Finally, a Visit from the Orthopedic Surgeon

Gone are the days of super-attentive orthopedic surgeons like my grandfather who make nightly rounds of all their patients. At 6:00 AM (more than 24 hours after the initial operation), Dave finally got a visit from the orthopedic surgeon and the plastic surgeon. Apparently there was a 1.5 inch hole in his leg from where the bone was protruding, and the skin has to be recreated there. If the surrounding tissue isn't too bruised, they may be able to use that, otherwise they will have to take skin from his upper leg or stomach. The news is on Tuesday, they will take the exterior pins out and put a rod in his leg, and put it all back together. So Pharmedica folks, he won't be at work on Monday or Tuesday.
